The car industry in Haslingden has a long and proud history. The first car factory in Haslingden was established in 1885 by William Morris, who went on to found the Morris Motor Company. Morris's factory produced the first cars in Haslingden, and the town soon became a centre for car production. In the early 20th century, Haslingden was home to a number of car manufacturers, including Austin, Rover, and Triumph. The car industry in Haslingden declined in the latter part of the 20th century, as manufacturing shifted to other parts of the country. However, Haslingden remains home to a number of car dealerships and repair shops.
